I know some Freecyclers don’t like Wanted ads. As I’ve said before though, I’m a fan.
Not only have I got some great stuff through posting Wanted ads, I love how Wanted ads prompt me to move stuff on.
I’ve got a Freecycler coming today to pick up a digital, cordless telephone with answering machine.
I got rid of my personal landline a couple of months ago. Hadn’t managed to part with the phone yet though!
(I notice I can find it hard to part with electrical equipment. Some irrational part of my brain sees them as expensive and valuable, even when they’re not).
So it’d been sitting on my desk, being clutter. I think I left it there in an attempt to make myself make a decision about it – preferably to get rid of it.
And then, a few days ago, someone posted a Freecycle Wanted ad for a landline phone, as their baby had ‘sucked ours to death’.
Done. Bye bye phone clutter. 🙂

Who knew doing something kind for someone you don’t know would feel SO GOOD! It all started when you inspired me through your blog! I hopped online and found the freecycle site in New Zealand. Someone wanted a popcorn maker – and what did I have sitting by the front door (been there for about 2 months) waiting to ‘go to a good home’ a popcorn maker – my own bit of decluttering and admitting I don’t use things. This week I did my first freecycle and dropped off the popcorn maker to the lady who lives near my school run. I found a bag of lemons waiting for me which brightened my day no end. Then I got a lovely text saying how I had restored her faith in people – that she couldn’t believe someone she didn’t know would show such kindness. I arrived in work that day with a happy happy heart.
What a lovely story, Jane. Well done you for making someone’s day, decluttering your home, and helping someone use secondhand rather than buy new.
